Over the years Delphic Digital has been lauded for its outstanding work, strong company culture, and rapid growth. Just recently, we were named one of Philadelphia’s Healthiest Companies by SmartCEO, which got me thinking about how we can continue to build an environment which supports fitness and health.
But first, why bother?
Tons of research has been done on corporate wellness programs, and more and more companies are choosing to implement something to keep their people healthy. Wellness programs can help to improve quality of life, reduce illness (and medical care costs) and inspire team bonding through group activities. Healthy employees are typically more energetic and focused, have fewer absences due to illness and are cheaper to insure. Offering perks that help employees stay healthy can also help to attract top talent.
At Delphic Digital, we began our wellness program (a term which feels far too formal for our approach) by listening to our employees. We’ve taken a home-grown approach with all of our other perks, so it made sense to turn to our team about wellness.
We offer free weekly yoga classes at the office, healthy snack options, adjustable stand/sit desks for every employee, and a deeply discounted gym membership to Sweat Fitness (which is also steps away from our office). Our office is centrally located in Manayunk, which is ideal for bike commuters (yes, we have bike racks!). We’re also conveniently located just steps away from the Manayunk Towpath, where you’ll often see a Delphic team out on a walking meeting.
I’m proud to say that we’ve established a fun, supportive environment where choosing healthy options comes naturally. We’ve even seen the Delphic team branch out and embark on fitness adventures together– from bootcamp classes and charity runs, to the Spartan Sprint race I recently ran with a few coworkers. It’s refreshing to see our team constantly finding opportunities to get out there and challenge themselves together.
